One of my patients on the Neurology ward is in fact a patient with high grade Glioma. He presented in a TIA clinic last year and his initial CT brain was Normal. His clinical history was non-specific.. I wounder how often we see such patients with TIA dignosis and turned up to be a space occupying lesion. TIA/stroke mimics is an important subject that needs to be considered for the junior doctors training.

I've had 2 TIAs, one when I was 30, one when I was 32.  I've had a couple of MRIs, and the local GP pesters me for my BP and cholesterol once a year (QOF-tastic), but do I really need followed up for the worry of having a glioma?  And if I do, am I not stuffed anyway (penguin).

Everyone presenting with TIA or similar diagnosis needs to befollowed up 6 monthly, preferably with fresh diagnostic imaging. A thorough study of TIA during undergraduate course with elaborate discussions on it at the Neurology classes will be of immense importance in managing it in a  better way subsequently.
