We already know that John D is going to be volunteering at the games. Is anyone else?

My friend managed to get tickets to the basketball match between Spain and Brazil, which should be interesting. And a lot of people I talk to in London seem to have tickets for volleyball!

The opening ceremony should be good - directed by film director Danny Boyle - and apparently features doctors and nurses as a tribute to the NHS.

Of course, most people will be interested in the 100m race with Usain Bolt, but what other events are you looking forward to?

I've got tickets to tennis, volleyball and taekwondo. I won't be an avid watcher but I'm looking forward to seeing sports that aren't usually in the limelight.

I hope that as well as providing introductions to how to watch these sports and the stars to look our for, the organisers also provide details on how to try these disciplines ourselves. That would be a good legacy, I think.

But in all serious JohnD - when you here that £60 million has been spent coverting Greenwich Park for equestrian events and that this all has to be dismantled afterwards the I, for one, think that is obscene.

I would like to see fencing on television. I think it will be only available on Foxtel which shows that some sports are "in" and some are not. Sailing is another. I like to watch shooting but this rarely makes it.

I means that the market dictates what we watch. If I am wrong please tell me so I can find them.

It is nice to watch the Games in the evening live from London.

We have come a long way in telecommunications.
