School room air quality and asthma rates

This study in Thorax suggests a causative link between the quality of air in classrooms in French schools.  The study is, by its own admission, just a random sample of schools, and the data is widely variable.

But is this a surprise to anyone?  Bad air = coughing and wheezing....

The episodes of asthma are known to be associated with quality of the surrounding air, one of the important risk factors.
So it does not seem to be surprising at all!
