I have a friend with MS but am not a neurologist so wonder if the world has moved on and I didn't realise. I see that NICE have said percutaneous venoplasty could relieve symptoms for those patients who have chronic cerebrospical venous insufficiency as part of their MS. NICE says there could be a link between CCVI and MS progression. It does say the procedure should only be done in a research setting and the evidence so far for benefit is weak- with at least one death being known.
Is this some way off being a useful intervention?

Interesting, I have a number of patients with MS, I had not heard of percutaneous venoplasty, it is not being done locally (Gloucerster, UK). We do have quite an active MS Society group. They are keen on using a hyperbaric chamber they have. I suppose it might be a similar idea of improving oxygen blood flows to the brain. As I under stand it current thinking is the hyperbaric oxygen is just a placebo. The tablets including the really expensive ones ( sorry I should look up names) seem fairly nasty and toxic. Nasty disease.
