I have bought a cheap pair of shoes- pumps, that don't fit and have given me blisters. The last time this happened I was doing a locum in a London hospital which had the longest corridors in the world

It's ironic that while crocs are verboten because you could step on an upturned needle (how likely is that?) in oneof my theatres and for historical reasons, I wear theatre slippers! MK, Aal Traditional Dutch clogs are the all-wood ones, heavy and hard on the dorsum of the foot. Far better are Scandanavian or Lancashire style, wood sole, leather uppers. Widely available from theatre and 'civilian' suppliers. If tha wants a gradely clog, there's nowt better 'n Walkley's: http://www.clogs.co.uk/cat_2.htm John PS meant to add before. The dress of doctors is a favourite subject of mine, and there have been a remarkable number of studies to determine what patients want to see their doctor dressed in, so there is an evidence base! Shoes are significant, and patients will mark down a doctor they see in trainers, scruffy or not. Strangely, they will also be displeased to see them in clogs! J. |
