I am retired and deregistered. I carry only basic first aid but I would do what I could, but I would be very cautious about exposing myself to possible legal action as an unregistered person.

If emergency medical services are already there I would not interfere - they are more competent than me in this sort of situation.  Otherwise I would stop.

If Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are not present,
most people will stop to render aid at a motor vehicle accident in the Arizona Desert.
It's an unwritten law.
Another soul may not pass by for a very long time.
These uncontrolled environments offer little support or security for on scene intervention, night or day.
I stop anyway and do whatever I can, safely, because, like most everyone else, I'm thinking, what if, next time, the injured one is me or my grey-haired mama, sib or kid.
I stop at city crashes too and worry only a little about litigation, because I don't look like a doc.
When most folks see me, a big buck Yaqui Indian, moving about the scene of an accident, they're more likely to want me arrested for looking to steal their wallets or ethanol, than to want to sue me.
When the EMS arrive, I give 'em "report", stay briefly to answer last minute questions and make sure no one's forgotten, then, "trained 1st aider" duty done, I quickly leave the scene.
