I am new here, but i read the whole discussion. It is amazing how people run into the bushes, offering plenty of help, but no one tells his own storry. As foreign doctors, it is impossible for us to know all about the local culture of hypocracy and political correctness. I too am curious to hear from other colleauges, let say from Spain, Greece, Kurdestan, Italy, Poland, Russia about their process of addaptation. I personally originate from outside anglo-saxons and it was difficult for me to accept that they do not speak up, they do not express trheir emotions, there is no connection between mind and heart. Not surprisingly the hospitals are full with suicidal individuals, self harmers and mental. If you as a doctor speak up, you are seen as not civilised one, you always have to follow policies, whistle blowing stuf and if you do not, then you get in troubles. My sympathy to your case. |

Hi drmk, I have been watching your activity over the last few weeks. The experience which you have described here must have been very difficult for you. And it would be for any one of us, who is reading it. In fact many of us had an experience at some point in our lifes, which could be called "Hitting the Wall", where there is no dialog and we feel like we can't get through to some people. The only difference is the outcome that you have to endure. Initially I have not responded as I felt you needed some time to vent out. You needed to tell your story and see people's response. Throughout the weeks you have demonstrated enormous energy, passion and determination. A lot of this energy is trapped in your PAST experiences. This experience you were talking about is already your past. I sense, the time has come to channel this energy in the direction that would be useful for YOU and effectively for others. My question here is simple: What do you want, drmk? Don't answer just yet. Stay with this question. Think. Be realistic. Be ambitious. Formulate your answer in positive terms. Let the answer be an expression of who you are. Have fun. |

In response to your question "what do you want?" - I want to hear from other doctors here - what do they do to prevent suspension/exclusion...And - from those, who have been already suspended/ excluded - how did they overcome this terrible time.
