Ok, so I fully acknowledge the broad question I've asked but Medscape have carrried out a survey in the USA which has found that dissatisfacion with medicine is intensifying. Apparently, only 54% of physicians would choose medicine again as a career, compared to 69% the previous year.

Now, I don't know if these reports are an accurate reflection or not of the US or the rest of the world. Perhaps there is some uncertainty with the new health plans which are making some doctors feel unsettled.

But in a general sense do you think dissatisfaction in medicine as a career is increasing? I'm not sure how you would quantify it though....

The reasons behind the increasing dissatisfaction in medicine are multifactorial. The prominent causes being the increase in overall businesses competition, commertialization of the medicine, increasing incidents of claims against doctors, insufficient payscales, & saturation of the jobs.

In the NHS you can add regional pay and broken pension promises to the list of reasons
