I sometimes read a book and listen to music at the same time and ever after when I listen to the music I remember the book and visa versa. A few years ago I read Anthony Beevor's book Stalingrad (in F

My favourite composer is Elamin, I can`t stop listening to his classical music in the early morning, leave the ECG one side and listen.... then feel the difference. But if you ask me about my favourite colour I would not say Red, Green or Blue, not even the Yellow or Orange, Look at the colourless and you will find the answer

Sad to be predictable but for me it is Beethoven. Why is he the composer, even in this era who somehow captures and represents the scope of the human condition? His music has to be the one we would (and did) send into space. This is not to belittle any of the other truly phenominal composers or pieces of music but auditory transcendence composed despite deafness is almost like Vermeer painting after going blind.

From my own experience, one's favourite composer may change as one matures and before one decomposes.

As with wines and literature, each to his own. However I have enjoyed hearing from you all on this topic. One's mood at the time, circumstances and one's personality may be influences.

There are many great composers, the best music depends of each circumstance, love, courage, happiness, sadness...
If you feel that some notes touch you in the deep of you soul...

It used to be Beethoven, but now Schubert. It never ceases to amaze me how powerful the sound of the "Death and the Maiden" string quartet is - more so than many pieces for full symphony orchestra.

Mozart is my favourite with Beethoven and Bach following closely behind him. The reason is that Mozart could turn an old piece of boot into a beautiful silken slipper! His "Magic Flute" opera is magnificent. We are singing his Coronation Mass in our choir at the moment and it is an early work but magical. Playing Mozart piano sonatas is a favourite past time and listening to his symphonies another! The melodies and harmonies are heavenly and his "Ave Verum" reminds me of my wedding when our choir sang it beautifully! Plenty of reasons then!
