In Response to Re: CLASS and doctors in the UK - what is our status? : Duane! You're a closet Marxist!   Welcome to the Party, comrade! " In a higher phase of communist society... only then can the narrow horizon of bourgeois right be fully left behind and society inscribe on its banners: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs." The irony is that Marxism is intrinsically a philosophy of class.   It offers no hope at all that the proletariat or the bourgeoisie, should ever come together.  Indeed Marx himself said that, "the class struggle necessarily leads to the dictatorship of the proletariat, [and] that this dictatorship itself only constitutes the transition to the abolition of all classes and to a classless society."  (Marx to Wedemyer, 1852)

We, yes, you as well, Duane, live in bourgeois socialist states, in that the mass of the people, the proletariat, have no say in government except under the influence of the bourgeois, yet they accept the advantages in lifestyle and comfort of that arrangement.    It is when that lifestyle loses its comfort that we see anything like a revolution of the proletariat,  as in the several riot seasons that have occurred in the US, UK and Europe in the last fifty years.

The example of those states where a dictatorship of the proletariat has allegedly been established has forever shown that Marxism is a philosophy that demands perfect people. Otherwise, that dictatorship becomes a simple, demagogic dictatorship, putting the proletariat in a worse place than where they started.

drmk,  would you reveal your native state, where there are no classes and all is for the best in this best of all possible societies?  I have no doubt we will all wish to emigrate there.

John

John,   What an informative discussion on Marxism,   and I cannot refute a single thing,  and here is the weird part,   Here in the USA we have Freedom to Buy Guns,  Fast Cars,, Alcohol,   Pornography, and all manner of things,  yet Taxes force us into a sort of Communist or Marxist living!    Your right my friend,  without a doubt,   Thanks for the eye opener...   DuaneF
