In Response to 50 things to do before you qualify....: First you should have build up a stong mind, One reason is Because even after you do all the hard work to save a life, even in slight delay or mistake or may be for nothing you will get blagarded by patient / relations occationally. Then you will feel very bad for they ignorred all the good things. U should hv strong mind to keep u r head up and continue u r good work. there r lot more reasons |

In Response to Re: 50 things to do before you qualify....: Do a PR - you've got to know exactly how glamerous it is to be a doctor Be able to make nice cake - useful to keep your colleagues happy Develop the courage to say 'I don't know', even if it's on the professorial ward round Posted by EJF Cake baking is an excellent skill to get you through your foundation years with new teams of seniors and nurses. I remember the surgerical house officers having a weekly brownie bakeoff - with brownies made by a different person each week and the registrars voting! How about have the ICT and time management / organisation skills to be able to keep an accurate list of who your firm has where and whats wrong with them - so vital for a new house officer |

I suspect it took me until my registrar training to get to 50. Having said that, I did 50 spinal anaesthetics in 3 months during an attachment as a reg. Still, 50 lumbar punctures as a medical student????
