The author goes on to say "I am not convinced that a diagnostic label of dementia is 100% beneficial to everybody. I think that my role as a GP is to do a simple memory assessment and cognitive function test, and if the results are basically OK, to reassure the patient for now and review if things get worse. The NHS total pot is shrinking, and the more money spent on this large cohort the less is available for the more needy. What am I missing please?"
