There is a piece in the BMJ this week http://www.bmj.com/content/344/bmj.e2736 about the costs of branded vs generic statins to the health care economy (700million dollars). I'm interested to know if anyone thinks their patients can really tell the difference and whether we think the effectiveness is confined to the original formulations as tested in clinical trials? sadian |

Generic drugs are a drug product that is comparable to brand/reference listed drug product in dosage form, strength, route of administration, quality and performance characteristics, and intended use. In the past ten years, Americans have saved more than $1 trillion with generic drugs. Big Pharma may not be so enthralled with them, but they symbolize almost 8 out of every 10 prescriptions filled in the U.S. |
