I'm disappointed with the results of this study. Was I expecting too much? We have been discussing doing something similar at work but if the effects in a trial setting are modest in real life they are likely to be even less.

It could be a revolutionary result that an internet based, nurse led treatment programme on top of usual care for vascular risk factors had a small effect on lowering vascular risk and on lowering of some vascular risk factors in patients with vascular disease. The intervention used in this study is easy to implement in clinical practice at low cost and could be used for various groups of patients at high cardiovascular risk.
The conclusion of the study is in contrary to the previous studies which showed treatment of vascular risk factors, alone or in combination, was known to be very effective in reducing the risk of recurrent vascular events and death.
For these reasons is the need to constantly review any previous studies.
