It has been agreed in India that it is ok for actors to smoke on screen but that they must also deliver an anti-smoking message/advert at the beginning of the film, at the interval and provide a static anti-smoking message during the smoking scene. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Smoking-scenes-in-films-get-Centre-nod/articleshow/16258451.cms Reading this article there seems to have been quite a struggle, but does it seem like a strange rule. If there are other 'undesirable' behaviours, will the government look to impose public health and safety messages in films? Or does smoking have somewhat of an artistic licence in cinema history?
