Everyone now says it seems so obvious that Jimmy Savile interferred with minors and as the days go on more scandal unfolds. There are going to be huge investigations into this but what can we take away from it? He cannot give evidence because he is dead so he cannot even defend what seems to be the indefensible.

The aim I suspect is to ensure this sort of thing never happens again - but if Savile was in his pomp today - surely he would be uncovered? Whatsmore it seems unfair that the BBC is taking such a lashing. It's not perfect but this stuff happened years ago and I suspect it is the media's revenge.

I understand the need for closure for the victims and answers about how this was allowed to happen. As for the hospitals he infiltrated - there's no way this could happen today, what with security and CRB checks. My concern is similar to Simon Jenkins' point in the Guardian "
Soon doctors, lawyers and priests will have to practise, like the police, in pairs. Responsibility for our behaviour apparently no longer rests on us as individuals but on anyone whom a lawyer can claim was "responsible" for our contact with others. We are no longer our own masters. This is the royal road to Orwellian hell."

Indeed - and it didn't take lawyers long to come sniffing out the possibility of big money payouts as if that helps. And they wonder why others view some of them as parasites.
