Thanks, MRH, I'd forgotten how UMT's coined it for some trainees (a dermatology senior registrar comes to mind - the only such in the region, he could claim to be 'on-call' 24/7!)

But stange how forgetful are governments too!  That was excatly the error that they made in the 'New Consultants' Contract'.  Labout could not belive that consultnats spent most of their time on the golf course, so when job plans started coming in for 14+ sessions a week, that they could not argue against, they were stuffed.

Sorry for the thread diversion - back to strikes?
