Mexico has a population of 112 million, of whom 42% previously had no health insurance. That is 52 million Mexicans, strangely the same number as Americans who have no health cover. When in that much richer country, President Obama has had such difficulty in legislating for a lesser version of UHC, I wonder how this will affect the outcome of his struggle? The Lancet is to publish further studies of the introduction of UHC in other countries. Watch that space!
