I have worked part time since having my first child 7 years ago. I have two now, it gets harder as they start school , as their needs are so much more. Juggling clinical work in a consultnat post is tough, but having thad to give up reseach and academia , has meant more time at home , but not sure it has meant more quality time with the kids as I am forever thirsty for more intellectual stimulation. Can one really do it all ? |

I think it depends on what you want out of life, and what support you have. I have a full time consultant post, I'm a senior lecturer for the University, I have a bit of a research interest, I train 20 hours a week for triathlon, I have 2 boys (8 and 6) and my wife works full time as a GP. My nearest relative is 300 miles away in Yorkshire. I think we get by.
