To become a circumcised role model for a nation where the number of HIV positive people is more than a million.  The 120 male members of parliament of Zimbabwe have been decided to be circumcised in the light of recommendations of experts endorsed by WHO & UNAIDS Secretariat that male circumcision now be recognized as an additional important intervention to reduce the risk of heterosexuality acquired HIV infection in men by approximately 60%.

Absolutely fine by me because they are grown adults and can make informed medical judgements. Contrast that with infants who have no choice in the matter. I would be interested to know of the number of MPs undergoing circumcision are in happy married relationships.

There is now strong evidence from three randomized controlled trials undertaken in Kisumu, Kenya, Rakai District, Uganda and Orange Farm, South Africa that male circumcision reduces the risk of heterosexually acquired HIV infection in men by approximately 60%.  This evidence supports the findings of numerous observational studies that have also suggested that the geographical correlation long described between lower HIV prevalence and high rates of male circumcision in somecountries in Africa, and more recently elsewhere,  is, at least in part, a causal association. Currently, an estimated 665 million men, or 30 % of men worldwide, are estimated to be circumcised.
