No radiation day - so if I break my leg I'd have to wait until tomorrow for an xray & airports would have to manually search luggage.

I agree that we need to be aware of the risks of radiation - perhaps an awareness day - but a "no radiation day" I  think is too extreme

Annual background radiation is 2mSv. Live 80 year and you have been exposed to 180 mSv not to mention medical imaging and air travel. A four hour flight at 12,000 metres is equivalent to three days background irradiation. One CT chest is equal to 400 chest radiographs.

After a myocardial infarct most people in the West get about 5mSv in the first year just from tests. There is an increased risk of cancer in these patients in the next five years.

We need to think more about this. At present there is no system in place to record a person's accumulative radiation from medical imaging.  No one seems to care about the radiation from air travel.

As the atmosphere degrades our annual radiation from gamma rays will worsen.

Pie in the sky aspirations; no radiation! Helios still rules us.

As we live on this planet we are not only bombarded day and night by gamma rays but also in our stone and brick houses by the decay of radon daughters. Some of us live near natural radiation sources. Children's sand-pits in my city often contained some mineral sands some of which are radioactive. The very rocks we build our houses on often have some inherent radiation as well as the spa water we drink and the food we eat. Even when we sing blithly to ourselves there is some heavy water in our shower and carbon-14 in our Corn Flakes.

In the Homer's Odyssey, when Odysseus's companions stole the cattle of Helios, the sun god, they all perished.

Helios still rules our lives. As we age, his rays wear us down until if we lived long enough our DNA would fall apart. And hence our need to master him by sexual reproduction as we exchange DNA anew each time. Bacteria do it well too but with much less pain and pleasure.

it is no wonder life wearies us and  years condemn. No radiation! Humbug I say.
