Probably, this is not the time or thing to talk about while great singer's tragic death happens that too untimely but I guess we medics need to be aware of another aspect as well. Dead body found in bathtub and lungs filled with water. Knowing the person had history of recreational drug use and reports saying that there were prescription drugs at that scene, is it another case of prescription related drug overdose? It might not be! Heath Andrew Ledger was reported to have prescription drug overdose while it was similar in case of Michael Jackson as well.

The news reports and I guess we all thought anyway she used recreational drugs. But she did seem to have prescription drugs eg Lorazepam. So sad , such a waste of a great talent. I think it is doctors' human nature to wonder about the cause of death. Self destruction when you have money is probably very hard to stop. |

Whilst like everyone else I only know what the media report about Whitney Houstons' death and its circumstances I do hope that we do not get a replay of the 'Jackson Doctor' scenario. That is, an awestruck Doctor being overly generous with prescription medication - losing his/her normal skills and judgement with a patient who is globally revered. |

Hello Kirked: bathroom with water in her lungs. For me this raises the possibility that she fell asleep (perhaps or probably by prescription drug-induced) and got drown. What do you think kirked? All Best,

The "awestruck doctor" Brilliant, kirked! A pithy and penetrating description of that foolish doctor. But what's this with "prescription drugs"? Does this somehow excuse the addict - the doctor gave them to me so I took them! Or is it a cover for the internet drug market? Really, I have no patience (can you tell) with people who waste themselves, their families and their talent. Ms.Winehouse for instance. Eric Clapton, now we are told 'clean' and seen as a National Treasure, not for his guitar playing (wonderful, any night) but for having survived his addiction. John |
