Touched on by some of earlier posts , but I found the limited nature of the list unimaginative. Also are we looking at the recorded cause or the actual cause? Clearly times are a bit different but suicide used to be pretty common amongst doctors as was alcohol , but not always given on the death certificate..... Also accidental deaths should include more than just RTA. It is always interesting to speculate just how often someone dies from a disease within their specialty . Quite striking with gastro as one might guess (colon , pancreas , liver) . Not sure what the equivalent is for a GP - general decline in old age? |

In Response to Re: What do you think will be the cause of your own death?: IHD. 25 years old and already diagnosed with essential hypertension(3 years back). I take my meds regularly, make sure to keep my LDL levels within limits. Don't get much excercise unfortunately.
I' m not obese. BMI of 19. so quite lean actually. Its funny because no one in my family has BP related problems..I'm the first one. |

It's a fear of death that often constrains us in life. We really need to move on and just enjoy our lives for what they are - for as much as we can and as long as we can. All my grand parents on both sides and my parents have lived till in nineties, I presume that I will also have long life.All family members had good physical and mantle health till they lived. But I am not looking forward to old age. I am scared to be disabled. |

Posted by sken I couldn't list every cause of death, and the list was meant to stimulate conversation, rather than give a conclusive answer. It's interesting that at the point of posting today, most feel they will die of IHD or a common cancer, but next is the risk of falling space debris..... Sepsis is not ranking highly - yet it is the commonest cause of death in those under 50..... Interesting conversation, so far.
