Are medical terms romantic? A doctor means " someone who instructs " a nurse "nourishes" and a hospital is a " guesthouse" and a patient is called so because he " Suffers" Thank you for sharing

In Response to Re: Is There Romance in Medical Terminology?: Thanks Dr K. Ashutosh............I will read your blog with great interest. I think words like Hypochondriac Personalities----------Orphan drugs ------are also romantice one. Posted by mukhtar ali Dr. Mukhtar, as there would be a long time for my post/blog, here I would like to explain it in short about the 'Romantic' fever. Although there have been a huge statistical data/literature available on the rheumatic fever, it is really surprising that nothing has yet being proved to the clinical satisfaction! There are certain well established facts which strongly point out that all the clinical symptoms pertaining to ?rheumatic fever are definitely attributable to 'malarial syndrome', & you will surely, as I request be convinced of what I am talking when you will manage these patients with simply Chloroquin & get surprising results! Some of the facts have already been appeared in the WHO manuals. The basic histopathological lesions found at autopsy of the affected cardiac valves of the rheumatic fever patients (from samples obtained of the damaged cardiac valves) which showed embedded malarial parasites indicating clearly that the valvular damage had been due to the impaired autoimmune/poor immune response to the malarial antigens. Isn't it 'Romantic' then? To go further the patients showing manifestation of chorea in patients of ?rheumatic fever are completely cured, only if chloroquin is administered to them in appropriate dosages. |
