Hookah, also known as shisha, waterpipe, or narghile is a multi-stemmed instrument for smoking flavoured tobacco in which smoke is passed through a water basin before inhalation to purify the smoke and minimise the effect of nicotine in the lungs and circulatory system
This social habit is becoming widespread now specially in London, among both men and women in most coffee -shops where people socialize and spend time with friends and relatives
Despite the fact that passing smoke through water could reduce its direct effect on the bronchial tree - as some people claimed that respiratory tract infection, and COPD is much more common upon cigarette smokers rather than Shisha users, but it is also possible that microorganisms and viruses , such as Epstein–Barr virus and herpes simplex, can be transmitted directly from one person to another, as all companions use one pipe at a time.
I think it is important to draw the attention of Shisha users to the possible effect of direct person to person infection as a result of this common social habit
Mouth ulcers, much more common in Shisha users
