It costs Australia between $80 and $170 million for each gold medal we won this Games. We have nearly all our funding from the government unlike the USA which has private sponsorhsip I understand.

is this madness? I think that as time passes there will be a concentration of medals in the top few countries. This is a challenge for our current model which is basically money driven now.

The playing field will get more and more uneven.
