And to you all. Last night we had dinner under our pergola, ate steak cooked outside on charcoal with a few bits of hickory for taste, drank wine and the passing year, the red from a patient who lost a son from a neuromuscular disorder, as the couds looked threatening but as a sailor I said it wouldn't rain and to leave the washing on the line. My pots of thyme and other herbs are verdant, the rosemary encroaches on my vegetable garden with its rambuctuous zucchini past its prime as summer takes its toll and the sun has just climbed to its summery zenith. I took from my freezer a bottle of mango liqueur given by an Italian family from North Queensland. My wife and I have seen them all and deilghted in their annual box of mangoes sent to my rooms on Christmas Eve and sometimes a bottle of Nocello. As I sipped the sweet liquor of my memories and felt the warm glow of mangoes, kindness and human sorrows I was glad to be a doctor and not a corporate lawyer or a merchant banker. This is my Christmas which celebrates the cycle of life, of Redemption, of weakness being strength, of the pieta and of the smell of rosemary which makes us remember. |

Dear all, as you may have noticed I don´t have a lot of time right now... Christmas is family time, and I would be frowned upon if I sneaked away to spend a lot of time on the internet - and honstly, I do need a little time with my family, friends, and the Christmas spirit right now myself... It´s rather warm outside, up to 15°, drizzling and misty, not Xmassy at all here...nevertheless: I want to wish you a very merry Christmas, joyeux Noel, Frohe Weihnachten, looking forward to meeting you again soon C. |
