So the logical conclusion to resolve the condition is to start the patient on SSRI's? Due to their good safety profile and as mentioned interferons do interfere with serotonin levels.Isn't it better to make them a part of standard regimen or get depression index from different scales upon each visit and start the drug when the patient goes in moderate to severe depression? |

Many thanks for a good discussion topic again! It has been a known fact that the standard drug treatment for hepatitis C 'Interferon', can cause depression. Depression is a relatively frequent and potentially serious complication of interferon therapy for hepatitis C virus infection. |
