This is definitely a good strategy. Forums like this enrich medical profession by promoting "thought" which is as essential as the rigourous systematic studies that forms its foundation. This sure is one significant step in its evolution and I am sure that the current editorial team has many more tricks up their sleev. Best wishes on the eve of 2012

Thanks Jayan!

We hope doc2doc is an enriching environment for all who use it. The badges and certificates are a way of rewarding people who use doc2doc and hopefully adding currency to the effort and analysis put in to various discussions.

Building and nurturing an online community is a learning experience and we are always looking to improve the forum's functionality and usefulness to you all. We have lots of ideas bubbling under the surface and will hopefully be able to implement these in 2012. Any ideas welcome!

We don't need rewards.

To me the greatest rewards are the responses of others and the connections of minds. I would rather a system based on the people's responses and acclaim rather than a nominal gong for posting a banal blog.

I am not ashamed of confessing that I do Envy you Odysseus.

I will never forget how you first aknowledged our Cardiology Champion as "The Marquise". My guess is that she enjoyed that.

Our Forum would be much less without you!

All Best to you both,

Joey

Thanks, Joey. With kind comments like that I need mannitol for cerebral swelling.

We are gong driven, we doctors. A very competitive lot. I am currently divesting myself of stuff; not amassing it.

We have a new Speaker in Federal Parliament. He is restoring the pomposity of the post. The problem is his new black robes and mace of office borne by the Sergeant at Arms are not accompanied by any intrinsic respect. Invisible and imperishable gongs are better.

it would be amazing if there was a writing competition, even if the award was for a certificate. I'm so glad i discovered doc2doc through a GP I was placed with at medical school, it's a great place to hear what other doctors and students are thinking, and gives medic writers an opportunity to... well... write!
