In Response to Termination of Fixed Term Contract, but HR don't like it: Following the recent events in my hospital, I submitted my resignation to terminate my fixed contract (ends end of July), however the employer said No! The advice from my labor union is that this resignation is in my best interest, however the employer won't accept this .I am interested in hearing from others - what would you do in this position? If you need more details - please send me a message on my private box. Posted by drmk Hi there, I am sorry to hear this. It must have been a very difficult time for you there to make this hard decision. Have you secured another job? What did your current employers say? To me it sounds strange that they are negative. Perhaps they do not have any other doctors to take over. I can see their point, but at the end of the day it should not be a prison for you. Are you obliget to work, what does your contract state? From my own perspective there is a leave notice which is usually one month. I put it to you you want to leave immediately, i.e. before this one month, is that the case? If yes, if I were in this situation, I would go and explain to my labor union all my reasons. Perhaps there are other doctors here, who are more experienced. If such things happen in my country of origin, the bosses will agree, but won't give me a good reference. Scary |

Posted by drmk Hi, another thought which occured to me after reading all your posts fram last week or so, perhaps the employer want to negotiate with you.You are saying you have a fixed term contract, does that mean you had your annual leave taken? If yes, then I can not see other reason, but making themselves difficult. If you haven't taken your annual leave, perhaps they are not happy to let you go, because they will have to pay your annual leave. These days the employers are g.o.d.s., ask bma. |
