Hi
I graduated in 2003, after my house job I've done some training in Ophthalmology (about 3years)
I attempted PLAB in March but unfortunately couldn't clear it.
Currently I'm unemployed
I don't want to be a burden on my retired father anymore I want to earn some money so that I can be taking care of myself as well be preparing for my exam. I want to be independent & self sufficient. I want to know that what job options do I have till I clear my PLAB exam.
Please if anyone can help me I'll be really grateful.

PS:- What about Medical Transcpitionist jobs, what are their requirements & howz there pay?

Hello,

I'm afraid you can't practise as a doctor in the UK without being registered by the GMC but as you say there are other jobs related to medicine you could try while you're working on passing your PLAB.  The "General jobs" section of BMJ Careers lists jobs related to medicine, you might find something appropriate by searching through there.  I don't know a huge deal about medical transcription jobs but my guess is that you'd need to join an agency.  This website might have some more tips.

What else you need without GMC, better than Tesco jobs

To the Original Poster:

Why not - nursing assistant, or support worker, or health care-r  in hospitals, or nursing homes? It is better than TESCO and even better than medical recorder. At least you are among patients and keep abreast with people-management, communication and plenty other skills. Managers will look down at you, yes, but why care? It is temporary until you pass your exam and you have your agenda. Money is low, yes, but - still better than being a "burden" for your poor retired father... As you said.
