The BMJ Group Awards are three years old in 2011 and hosts so far have been, for 2009, Sandi Toksvig and for 2010, Tony Hawks

The ceremony takes place on the evening of Wednesday, 18 May, 2011 in London; an evening dedicated to reward the frontline workers in healthcare in the UK and highlight the valuable work taking place in the developing world and beyond.

So who should host this event?

The host will ideally have the ability to engage with the medical subject matter, co-present awards with BMJ editor, Fiona Godlee, and deliver a 15 min light but relevant, entertaining stand-up routine or after dinner speech

We look forward to hearing your ideas...

Kind regards,

Ingrid Bray

Ingrid - I've been to a few of these, particularly in an earlier role. I've "been hosted" by Jonathan Ross, Stephen Fry, Graham Norton, Jimmy Carr. All were good. Jimmy Carr was my favourite.

I'm not sure what your budget is, but my current favourite is www.michaelmcintyre.co.uk/" target="_blank">Michael McKintyre. I imagine he charges a bomb. For entertainment only, I think the medical duo Amateur Transplants are brilliant. We did a podcast with them last year, shortly before they went to Edinburgh. If you want to keep it medical, there's Phil Hammond.

I know Sandi Toksvig was a hit two years ago, so if you were after a woman, how about www.shazia-mirza.com/biography.html" target="_blank">Shazia Mirza or Shappi Khorsandi

Having learned from you Brits that he's actually incredibly funny, I'd vote for Hugh Laurie. I wouldn't want him to come as Dr. House and be mean to Fi though!
