Love and Valentine Day

Love and Valentine day

Valentine day, the day that not only makes our heart feel love, but also gives opportunity to express it to the ones for whom our heart beat every second. So this day becomes the most awaited day of many youngsters. It’s indeed the day of excitement and nervousness for the ones who are going to propose for the first time. The history starts with Saint Valentine, today the patron of lovers. He was a Roman priest and physician. The priest signed a letter to his jailer’s daughter, whom he had befriended and with whom he had fallen in love, “from your Valentine.” The legend of the bishop of Terni, Italy- also called Valentine and also martyred in Rome- may refer to the same person.

Love, the precious gift of God, is the eternal feeling that adorns one’s life.  It refers to physical, mental, emotional and psychological intimacy that gives pleasant sensation which neither varies with age nor with circumstances.  Intensity of true love is not affected by physical distance as love means meeting of soul that communicates through heart. No one knows the origin and end of love as it is as vast as the sky and as deep as the ocean.

Nowadays people can forget different festivals and occasions, but not Valentine day. As February month comes everyone starts talking about Valentine day and different ways of making it special. So, how can medical colleges remain aloof from the charm of this day? The pressure of studies during the whole course of MBBS is so much that many students seek for company of such person with whom they can share feelings and relieve their frustrations. It is natural that opposite sex attracts, so many pair up during their student life.  They enjoy each other’s company, share various ideas and emotions, hold each other’s hands during difficult times, celebrate happiness together, see beautiful dreams of future and make promises without realizing if they can fulfill them in future. Many lovers go so deep that they become bonded emotionally as well as physically. But still many relations later just prove to be time pass as a result of infatuation.  Love or relation during student life has its pros and cons.  Nothing can make life beautiful to the extent as love can. And the bitter truth is love can also break someone so badly that the whole perception towards life changes. This happens when one of them lacks commitment and fails to keep promise. Also various social and family restrictions or even career itself can become hindrance to make love successful in the long run.

These days it seems that some people are playing with the pure word”love” which is infact a sad thing.  It has basically become an entertainment package and a way of fulfilling one’s self interest. Relations start and end so easily that its better not to use the term “love” for them.

The definition and perception of love may vary from person to person. Valentine day gives opportunity to express one’s love with a hope that his or her love will be felt by the loved ones. Don’t let this day pass like a normal day, express your feelings if you haven’t yet and make the bond stronger! All the best!!

No offense but I find Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, and any other so called "Day" celebrating something we should be doing everyday anyway...well, ludicrous. I find it really odd when people involve me in these celebrations; I know they mean well but I wish they'd stop for a rethink! I don't need a day to tell somebody I love them or that I care. If I did, I might be having a darker problem.

Yes, i do agree that we don't need a "day" to tell somebody we love them but it's just a part of making our life "lively" by celebrating these "different" days !!!! The same thing done on these days become more special to our loved ones(father, mother, girlfriend, boyfriend or spouse) than done on other normal days!!!Its just a means to make different days of this life special in different ways :)

This is called as complementing each other- one forgets but the other doesn't. She just wants to say that you are special to her as you were before 50 years.

Having seen binuragi's icon (picture), I would definitely send her a Valentine. Just 50 weeks and one day to go!
