As a medical student, we are given 3 months to conduct our own research in any given field. This is an exciting opportunity, as it gives us 3 months to concentrate on another aspect, and significant part, of medicine. Without research, medicine would remain stagnant, unchanged... without research, we would not be able to improve our services and provide better patient care.
