Enhanced learning with webbased mindmapping
For self-study and didactic purposes I have been experimenting with methods to create webbased mindmaps. For those who are not familiar with mindmapping, WikiPedia offers a short introduction with references to relevant literature.

Now I would like to hear your comments on two options I can create.

Example 1: Flash-version exported from MindManager.

Example 2: interactive image (a so-called "imagemap") from MindNode.

My opinion may be a little biased, as I am a huge fan of the MindNode package (especially for iPhone and iPad). Nothing to disclose, by the way. My concerns about the Flash-based version (Example 1) are:
  1. large filesize (slow)
  2. Flash requirement (problematic on mobile devices like iPad)
  3. usability concerns (try for yourself)
On the other hand, Example 2 cannot be created automatically, and therefore requires more work. It has limited ability to make notes (meaning that if I don't implement that manually, there is no ability), but to me its advantages are:
  1. elegance (matter of taste, I know)
  2. small filesize (fast!)
  3. uses web standards (cross device compatibility)
So everything together, I have a preference for Example 2. But as it is not just for me (in that case web export would not be required), I would like to know your opinion.

Based on the first comments I can create a sequel, and maybe I should create two versions with the same content. But for now, feel free to shoot. Thanks!

Mind node looks like a lovely bit of software. I've used mind maps on many occasions throughout my life and eventually same to the conclusion that i don't really like them. Why? I find it awkward to read and recall the information that is written right to left, so the left half of the map. It feels like it's all backwards and sits uncomfortably in my brain. Have you come across this before?
