What makes a good teacher?
I've been busy for the past couple of days teaching on a course. As many of you who read this probably do I always try to collect / look over any feedback (self-congratulation or self-flagellation you can decide!). I've been thinking about what makes a good teacher and in particular those teachers who have influenced me - to my mind it has fallen into two main categories - a clear and transmitted passion for the subject being taught and personal characteristics - charisma if you like but also including openess and approachability. i've been on some courses to improve teacing skills but are great teachers born and not made?

Most teachers I have encountered have no imagination. They just vomit facts. Few have the gift....
